City
Trainers is really wrongly named; it should be called City
Stressbusters - I have never felt better physically and
mentally! They are also well organised and have an emphasis
on service unlike most trainers. More to the point, everyone
there is great - good, supportive, genuinely nice people!

It's well over a year since I started
training with City Trainers and everyone I know, including
myself, cannot believe that I even go to a gym regularly,
let alone what I have proved I can do with great support
and encouragement from the City Trainers team.
You
see, I WAS that pale, skinny, ginger streak at school
- at the
age of 36, having successfully quit the 30 fags a day,
I decided to enlist the help of City Trainers. (Y'know.
not for ever, just for the first ten sessions.just to see.).
Over a year later, I can't miss a session without getting
grumpy. I'm hooked.
First
there is the fantastic Louise and Kate who, recognising
my general pathetically wimpy
approach to exercise, skilfully and sympathetically chose
the best trainers for the job. First there was "Super-Dave" who
is a training God and far too perfect to be on this planet
quite frankly. Now I have the fantastic bloke that is
Chris, who, apart from being a great trainer, is also someone
I class as a friend.
Chris has been an inspiration: he keeps
me motivated, varies the training so we don't get bored,
he encourages me to do things I wouldn't ever dream I'd
ever do (me?...boxing?!!); always keeps his concentration
on my goals; pushes me when I start
whinging; listens to me when I start hurting in places
I shouldn't be; advises me on food and nutrition without
carping about fad dieting; answers all my annoying questions
about training and exercise; helps vent my frustrations
by letting me box the crap out of the focus pads and above
all, he seems to have as much pride as I do when I do well.
I was never a fat boy, quite the opposite in fact, but after
a year I could not be happier with my fitness level, strength
and a physique. My T shirts
are tighter now and it really isn't due to putting them
on a hot wash. The biggest surprise to me about the whole City Trainers thing,
has been finding out what I can do, you know. the things
I managed to convince myself I couldn't do. Not only have I found I can do them,
but in fact
I aint half bad at it either.
Would I recommend City Taining?... is it worth the money?...
I'd rather miss a mortgage payment than miss out on training.
ooh, and I still have the odd packet of Monster Munch,
just to keep my feet on the ground.

| I
used to be one of those people who gave withering looks to
the poor souls who couldn’t even work out how to use
gym equipment on their own and so felt the need to have a
personal trainer - but not any more! I am now completely converted,
I am indeed a born-again personal trainee!
A few
months ago I was feeling particularly frustrated by the
fact that I was going to the gym 3 times a week but didn’t
seem to be making any progress, partly, I’m sure,
due to the fact that I wasn’t exactly pushing myself
very hard and thought that 25 mins on the bike was a chance
to catch up with a good magazine! By lucky coincidence,
it was then that I saw a new ad for City Trainers in my
gym and after an initial consultation, signed up for what
has turned out to be the first of 4 courses of sessions
so far - but to be honest I really couldn’t imagine
being without Lee now!
Lee
is brilliant. He has somehow managed to achieve great results
(even my previous class instructor now tells me how good
I look!!), with all my body stats including body fat, lung
efficiency, and body measurements all showing significant
improvement, while at the same time keeping the whole thing
fun and light hearted. He gives me advice on all aspects
of my health and fitness including my diet (but sorry Lee,
I still won't give up alcohol!) and actually just knowing
I'm going to be working out with him is a great mental deterrent
when I’m tempted to binge on bad food and drink!
One
of the best things about our sessions is how Lee motivates
me. He really pushes me to achieve the absolute max from
my body in a way I never can on my own but is always very
sensitive to days when I might be a bit below par due to
stress or tiredness and adjusts my workout accordingly.
He varies my routine every session which is crucial for
me as I get bored very easily and importantly, he also praises
me when I’ve worked hard or achieved the next level
- very clever because it just makes me want to work harder!
At the end of day, a personal trainer is not cheap, but
I can safely say that given that after every session with
Lee I look better, sleep better and feel great, it's worth
every penny!
